BLUE LATITUDE: PRESS

VETERAN PRODUCERS RELEASE SMOOTH JAZZ RECORDING

Denver, CO -- January 23rd, 2007 -- After producing records and touring with Richie Furay (Buffalo Springfield, Poco), Righteous Brother Bill Medley and dozens of other indie & national artists, guitarist/keyboardist RANDY RIGBY has joined guitarist/vocalist ED EDWARDS for a recording from their new band BLUE LATITUDE.

Their soon to be released debut album, "EL ENCANTO", finds Edwards & Rigby stepping out front with an all-new collection of contemporary & smooth jazz compositions, bursting with funky Latin-tinged rhythms, soulful vocals and dramatic arrangements. Tracks such as the smokin' title track "EL ENCANTO" and the sleek and sultry track, "SOUL SHADOWS," display Ed and Randy’s ever-growing musical maturity and offer ample proof that they have become considerable recording artists of their own.

"With our production company, we’ve been producing and playing on a lot of other people’s records for years," says Rigby, "so we just wanted to make a recording of a band of our own creation and see the music that we’ve been composing come to life. We’re really hoping for a label to get behind what we’re doing, but the worst-case scenario is that we’ll continue to enjoy playing our own music with a band made up of people that we love dearly."

Edwards & Rigby’s stirring live performances are complemented by a stellar lineup of musicians, several who were previously Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Richie Furay’s touring band. "We put together our favorite band," Edwards says proudly. "They're just the ideal bunch of players for our music and our audiences have been very appreciative."

“We originally began performing around LoDo (Denver’s artsy Lower Downtown) simply because we needed a break from the confines of our music production facility”, explains Ed. “Our studio was in the middle of all these great music spots, so we finally decided to say yes to the requests from some local club owners.”

5 years of performing weekly at Denver’s Sambuca Restaurant, a rare & classy combination of concert venue and restaurant, has created an ever-increasing following for Ed and Randy. The clamoring for a CD of the original material has reached it’s zenith and they have responded with grateful enthusiasm.

“We’ve grown up listening and playing jazz, but we are not purists by any means, because we love the diverse styles of music that have sprung up in America over the past 100 years; jazz, blues, gospel, r&b, folk & country”, Randy preaches. “I like to think that the music is ultimately all about the people, who respond to inspired songs that have memorable melodies as well as skillful improvisation.”

He continues, “As a kid growing up in recording studios in Hollywood & Los Angeles, I can recall overhearing label execs saying, 'Without great song writing we don't have ANYTHING!' We’ve tried to keep that in mind while writing the material for EL ENCANTO."

Where it’s all leading is hard to tell just yet, but BLUE LATITUDE will be hitting the road in March as the new CD hits the streets. “Our fans in Denver have been so supportive so we’re hoping to find the same favor with audiences in other cities around the US.

Look for the release of BLUE LATITUDE’s "El Encanto" on MARCH 5th and be sure to catch one of their shows as they tour around the US. You won’t be disappointed. Oh yeah, and don't forget to pick up the CD!
